Teaching & Learning Resources

We work with clients to develop a wide variety of accessible, professional educational resources, examples of good practice and learning materials.

Newborn and infant physical examination digital toolbox
With HSHS, Cambridge we have developed an exciting new web-based database for everyone involved in the newborn and 6-8 week physical examination. The toolbox can be navigated by searching aspects of the examination and users can generate a ‘basket’ of items to then print off full details of CD-Roms, books, journal articles and simulators to use in their practice. Screening Choices: A resource for health professionals offering antenatal and newborn care
Working in partnership with HSHS, Cambridge, we were commissioned by the UK National Screening Committee to research, write, coordinate, design and publish a resource and training programme focusing on informed choice in antenatal and newborn care. The result is an exciting interactive programme which has been hugely popular throughout England. Presented in a web-style format, the programme consists of seven units, practice-based activities, case studies, references, live web links, workbooks, a trainers' resource pack and a toolbox with a wealth of relevant information. For further information, see: http://www.screening.nhs.uk/cpd/home.htm

Health visitors and school nurses development programme: toolkits
We worked with the Department of Health to develop innovative toolkits for health visitors and school nurses. JRA were responsible for project management, editorial development, liaison with the working group and steering group, development of design concepts and design of both toolkits. The toolkits focus on achieving the Government's modernisation agenda for the health service.

Preparation of supervisors of midwives
JRA were commissioned by the ENB and the Nursing and Midwifery Council to prepare the first, second and third editions of this highly successful open learning resource. We worked with experts to identify the major changes needed to develop and subsequently to bring the resource up-to-date.

The Solihull Approach: resource packs
With Solihull NHS Care Trust we developed and published learning resources for healthcare professionals working with families with infants, children and young people. We project manage the editorial development, open learning writing, developmental testing, design and publication of the resources. They include handouts for professionals and for parents. The series includes resources for professionals working with children under 5 years, school aged children together with packs for trainers. The latest in the series is a Parenting Course which is being rolled out across the country. For more information see: http://www.solihull.nhs.uk/solihullapproach
