WDHE Conference 2011Sustainable Writing Development: Approaches and Challenges Established 15 years ago, the Writing Development in Higher Education initiative has brought together practitioners and researchers from a wide range of countries, institutions and interest areas to help create the diverse and energetic field of writing development theory and practice we have today. The 2010 WDHE conference will be held at the Royal College of Physicians in Central London, adjacent to beautiful Regent’s Park. The conference offers an important opportunity to explore the possibilities and challenges of bringing about sustainable writing development in higher education. The content of the WDHE 2010 conference will be a rich mix of keynote presentations, academic papers, workshops, and symposia, chosen from submitted abstracts. We are delighted to welcome two internationally recognised leading speakers – Professor Andrea Lunsford, Professor of English and Director of the Program in Writing and Rhetoric, Stanford University, California, USA and Dr Theresa Lillis, Senior Lecturer, Centre for Language and Communication, Open University, UK. We are also offering an additional workshop - Using free online tools to support writing development This will be a whistle-stop tour of freely available online tools that support writing development for all, from research and composition to collaboration and communication. The workshop will provide a foundation for independent exploration of the tools throughout the conference, and further guidance will be available at the in-house cyber-station. To celebrate the 13th WDHE conference we will be holding a mid-summer garden party with barbeque. The garden party will be held at the Royal College of Physicians and will include a drinks reception, wine and a barbeque dinner with accompanied music. Gallery 2 |
