When the Vigilance and Risk Management division of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) wanted to revitalise their methods of communication with healthcare professions they approached the JRA team. The objective was to produce a regular monthly, high profile, professionally authoritative, monthly bulletin, and to build reader awareness and trust among the professions. It was also designed to raise awareness of the MHRA and its services among professionals.

The JRA team established a brand and style for the bulletin so that users recognised the publication and can readily identify the sections of the bulletin of relevance to them. We reviewed the editorial content and suggested appropriate categories of information. Brief, informative articles are linked to live references supporting websites and journal articles. The bulletin has been a major success for the MHRA. It was published online and in hard copy and has now moved to be one of the key online methods of communication between the MHRA and the health professions.
