Inside-Outside: Challenges and Prejudices
Celebratory Conference
21 September 2015 University of Cambridge, UK
Inside-Outside refers to many themes in the work of Professor Martin Johnson, whose work this event celebrates on the occasion of his retirement. On the one hand we are considering what is happening on the inside and the outside of the developing cell, and on the other we consider how the insides and the outsides of the academy, the professions and the disciplines are maintained.
We are looking also at questions of inequality and prejudice: questions that are hard to ask, are not asked, or are asked too often. Our programme offers a range of perspectives on some of the fundamental questions that have concerned Martin over his lengthy and unusually multifaceted career, and includes talks from speakers in the arts and humanities as well as from law, medicine and the sciences.
Attendance to the event is strictly by invitation only and will run from 9am to 6pm, followed by an open public lecture by Dr Janet Rossant at 6pm.
